Not very far from the shores of Vrystoria …
Beyond the southern lands , where the ocean lies open without boundary, is that very deep Maelstrom of waters which we call by its foreboding name "Charybdis' Lair." It is said to engulf in the waves and disgorge them forth again and again, without end. …
They say there is another lifeform, born not of this kind, far south of the region of Twilight Lights and the province of Niflheim, and with this fact the coasts of the Southern regions agree, for they are filled constantly with such sudden torrents that any one who may by chance be found only a little adrift from the shore can hardly get away from the vortex.
It has been heard of certain high nobleman of Serenity relating that numerous ships, shattered at first by the tempest, were afterwards devoured by this same Maelstrom.
And when one soul, born of the sea, out of all those who had been in these vessels, barely alive, was carried over the waves, all others laid to rest as derelict wreckage upon the ocean floor, he was skirred by the force of the retroceding waters, up to the edge of that most frightful chasm. As the maelstrom beheld his fate, gapping before him, the deep turmoil of which an end he could not see, and mortified by the moment, foreseen to be consumed into it, suddenly in a way that he could not predict he was greeted by a blaze of light from within which the light god Fo was rendered before him.
" This is not your time, young one, we have many things to show you, and you have many to learn, let me lead you back to shore. "
The light receded and our voyager was cast upon the shores of the southern lands, just west of the Maples and left to be.
Adrift in a foreign land with no knowledge of a past, only memories of the maelstrom, Fo and the shoreline, he now makes his mark on the seas of Vrystoria, a fisherman by trade, the oceans ever calm in his presence as if protected by some omnipotence with the winds forever at his sails.
