Now that the server seems relatively stable and established after the initial bumpiness, I feel inclined to give my impressions thus far...
My only grievances, really, are purely personal ones. Parts of the map are still far too jagged for my liking (the steppe near my prospective deed is a fine example), but now that the map is settled, I suppose we can only partially change that slowly over time by terraforming in deed creation. I also abhor the lack of priest restrictions, given that it completely and utterly devalues priests (previously, I would always have been happy to pay for the services of a priest. Now I can just (largely) do it myself. Weakens the economy).
But those are personal gripes, and far outweighed by the good points of the server I find myself becoming a part of (assuming it remains stable; this is still beta, after all, but I have high hopes). It has a good map (apart from the jaggedness), PROPER skill/action rates (1x/2x does seem to be near-perfect, though actions sometimes seem a bit quick), and a stable community that seems to be growing. After a long time, I might just have found the Wurm server I was always looking for...
I do have a few suggestions: parts of the website and the wurm-unlimited listing are still written for the old first map, as far as I can tell, so ideally they'll be updated before we go public. And when we DO go public, I recommend advertising prominently on the wurm-online forums, on Steam, and a few other places I probably don't know about; we have a good base here, but fresh blood is always a good thing.
And finally, and most importantly, I suggest setting up a place where we can all communicate freely whether we're ingame or not; Teamspeak is inadequate due to the lack of proper text, so I recommend a discord server or something similar. It'll help communications and might help flag problems to the GMs faster. It's certainly been very useful on servers I've been on in the past, and anything that helps the community communicate can only be a good thing.
